We have had a fantastic few days with Captain Chemistry making compasses and lighting fires!

Suzie from the Dogs Trust visited us and we became Dog Detectives! It was our job to work out who was responsible for harming a young boy. We investigated reasons why a dog may hurt someone and most importantly how to stay safe around dogs. Thank you so much, Suzie! We really enjoyed your visit, with Max the dog!

Adam Bushnell paid us a visit and we had a fantastic day! We explored the book A Street Through Time, focussing on the Anglo-Saxons. We looked at artefacts from the Anglo-Saxon times and described their clothes and jobs. We also wrote some great setting descriptions about an Anglo-Saxon village. We then ventured outside and imagined we were Anglo-Saxons trying to capture an animal to eat and make clothes out of. We made some very clever traps! We finished our fun-packed afternoon with a dragon drawing masterclass. Thank you, Adam for such a fun time!

We had so much on Celebration of Reading Day exploring our book Nen and the Lonely Fisherman. We wrote setting descriptions, explored the meaning of names and whether they should be fixed to a certain gender and had lots of reading for pleasure opportunities across the day.

We enjoyed the Cricket Festival at Brandon Cricket Club. We had fun developing skills needed for Cricket such as, bowling, catching, batting and teamwork.

We learned a new sport today; Danish Long Ball. We had to use our football and fielding skills which was a lot of fun.

We visited Rainton Meadows where we went on a mini-beast hunt, went pond dipping and followed a trail to find out facts about various animals and their habitats. We also compared these habitats and discussed why they are important for the flora and fauna that live there. Thank you to John who shared his expertise with us - we really enjoyed it!

We enjoyed playing Endzone all morning today. Thank you for our Year 6 Sports leaders for helping.

In our last Confidence and Resilience session, we explored positives about ourselves, challenges we wish to give a go and how we can overcome a 'failure' and turn it into a 'success'. We also looked at positive affirmations and thought of some we can say to ourselves every day! Thank you, Kate, for working with us - we really enjoyed our time with you.

We all did a fantastic job at Quad kids. Well Done to Jay, Fraser, Alexander, Holly and Maddie who all came away with medals!

In our second Confidence Session led by Kate from the Piece of Mind team, we explored what resilience was and how to build our resilience up in stressful situations.

In Science, we investigated what the best way is to melt chocolate to help Willy Wonka who wanted a chocolate river. We melted the chocolate in different ways and used thermometers to measure the temperature of the chocolate.

We had a fantastic day exploring the nation and identifying key landmarks. We then investigated what characteristics and skills were required for different jobs and whether there were any skills needed for all jobs. We also looked at budgeting and how we can save money, with a focus on helping save the environment as well. We then created our own companies where we had to make and sell our own bracelets keeping our costings in mind and how to help the environment such as, re-using the beads bags.

We had our first Confidence session today delivered by Kate from the Piece of Mind team. We explored what confidence means, discussed what our own strengths are and thought about how we have used our strengths. We also looked at things that we are good at.

We really enjoyed the Easter Egg Hunt led and organised by the PTA. Thank you for the fun and our treats!

In Science, we have been investigating if gases weigh anything. Ask us about our results!

For World Book Day we completed various activities based around How to Train Your Dragon. We read part of the book, completed a reading comprehension, a mini dictionary hunt and made our own paper cup dragons. We also dressed up in our favourite book characters -it was a really fun day!

We have been looking at Safer internet Day this week and in English we created our own dramas based on Cyberbullying which we performed, with some great acting skills, on stage.
