Easter Egg Hunt

When the Easter Bunny called the Friends of Finchale PTA and asked them to find a way to make sure the annual Easter Hunt still took place........ well we had to find a way!

The hunt took place in the morning of the last day of term, and the rain just about stayed away for us. The children had a great time running around looking for the hidden "eggs" (even the big children!) in their class bubbles, and all received an Easter Treat at the end.

Our Valentine trail winners were the Moore family, well done to them! Here are a few picture from the trail, including one of the the winner's prize... Valentine cupcakes! We raised £104 from the trail, for our funds, so thank you to all that took part.

Valentine Trail

In the spirit of keeping PTA events going, and staying right within the current guidelines, we have organised our own Friends of Finchale Valentine's Trail!  It's really simple to take part. heart

Between 10th and 14th February, across areas of Newton Hall, some of our fabulous friends will be displaying character "love" posters in their windows!  Each poster will have a picture of a well-known character..... maybe from a Disney film, from a book, or from a TV show.  All you have to do, is during your permitted daily exercise/walk (only within your own support bubble!), locate our characters and then match them with their Valentine. So, if you see a poster with Mickey Mouse, you would write down his Valentine Minnie Mouse.

Across Newton Hall there are 28 Valentines to be found, grouped into 6 different small locations. You could choose to go out and find them all in one walk, or spread it out over a few days - whichever suits you the best.

To receive your map, please just send a £2 donation on Parent Pay to the PTA Valentine's Trail and we'll email you your copy of the map. Once it's filled in with as many as you can find, simply take a photo / scan your sheet and email it back to us. There will be a prize chosen at random from those with the most correctly matched Valentines.heart

Enjoy, have a little fun, and most importantly stay safe and look after each other.

Visit from Santa

Even in these strange times, it was great that Santa could still make his yearly visit to Finchale. He sanitised his hands, and stayed social distanced from the children in his outdoor grotto. Thank you to the Kemp family for decorating his lovely grotto! As an extra bonus, every child in school received a little present.

Christmas Raffles

Thank you to those of you that have bought tickets for our online raffle this year, tickets are now all sold out.  The 12 draws will be made between 7th and 18 December. Fingers crossed for everyone in the draw to win £5,000.00! smiley You can also still make chocolate donations to school, for our children's sweet hamper raffle.

Halloween Costumes

To try to do our bit to combat the growing problem with one-time use Halloween costumes, Friends of Finchale PTA and the Eco Council are teaming up to offer Finchale’s own Swap-Shop.

We may be a little late this year, but we hope this is a start and over the coming years, with your support, we go from strength to strength as this initiative builds…… maybe even to Christmas jumpers and other annual events.

So how can you help?

If you have any unwanted Halloween costumes please bring them in this week Monday 21st - Wednesday 23rd October, and drop them off at the Main Office.

We will sort them into age order and display them in the Hall during this weeks’ Parents Appointments. Please feel free to view these donated costumes, and take one FOR FREE for your child this year.

Unfortunately we don’t have the space to store these long-term, so after the event anything left over will either be kept for school dress-up boxes/class assemblies or donated to charity.

Therefore each year we will be opening the Swap-Shop up as fresh - but a little earlier in the term!

Thank you to the Reception Parent for suggesting this to us - as always, any suggestions for the PTA are always welcomed.

If you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to ask any member of the PTA team.

Thank You :) and Happy Halloween!
