Well done to Reception Class for walking to St Godric's School and participating so well in the festival.
Well done to all pupils participating, KS1 on 22/6/17 and KS2 on 20/6/17.
Year 3 had a fantastic time learning new skills at Framwellgate School. Eight children competed in a singles competition where they played against children from other schools. All of the children completed a number of challenges including throwing then hitting a ball into a target, racket skills included “keeping the ball up on the racket” and “forearm long shots”. Finally all the points were added together from the matches and activities and Year 3 were thrilled to find they had come in fourth. Many thanks to parents Mr Kemp and Mrs Johnson for going on the trip and well done Year 3!
Year 5 and Year 2 have been working together....
Year 5 pupils have been skilling up to become sports leaders and they were helped by our Year 2 pupils.
Jack and Jessica from Year 5 explained "There were three sports leaders for each group, we had to set up an activity station, practising the activity so that we could show the Year 2 children what to do. We gave them clear instructions and had to be enthusiastic to make sure that they had fun. We had to be even more enthusiastic when it started to rain because we were outdoors! We all learnt different tennis skills and then the sports leaders ran a competition. We really enjoyed the afternoon."
Jessica from Year 2 said "I loved it when we were hitting balloons up in the air with a tennis racket, it was really good fun and we had lots of exercise which is good for us."
What a fantastic time our Year 2 children had at Maiden Castle perfecting their rugby skills. The weather was in their favour and a carousel of outdoor activities saw them practising throwing and catching and also playing “stuck in the mud”. The session culminated in Tag Rugby matches which were thoroughly enjoyed by all! Well done Year 2, you were also brilliant ambassadors for our school.
Three of our talented pupils qualified for the County Cross Country Finals which were held on 17th March 2017 at Perterlee. They ran fantastic races and their finish positions were amazing given that there were approximately 100 pupils in each race.
Evie in Y4 ran in the Y3/4 Girls Race and finished 9th.
Jessica in Y6 ran the Y5/6 Girls Race and finished 15th.
Taylor also in Y6 ran the Y5/6 Boys Race and finished 7th.
Well done indeed!

There are still games to play in the competition, because we had so many points the remaining teams are playing for their places including second. Good luck to the remaining teams.

What a fantastic performance the Year5/6 basketball team gave at Maiden Castle. They finished in second place to winners Pittington. You can clearly see by the look on their faces how much they enjoyed the event and welcomed the opportunity of practising their skills.
Year 1 and Year 4 had a fantastic day each practising and extending their gymnastic skills. Balances, low beams, high beams, trampolines and vaults, to name but a few of the activities undertaken and thoroughly enjoyed. Well done to all pupils who participated, they did so well many of whom pushed themselves and extended their comfort zones!
Well Done Team!
Alexander, Nicholas, Adam, Finn, Taylor and Lewis played 5 games and were unbeaten until the final. Unfortunately Pittington won the final, but Lez (Coach and Caretaker at Finchale) said he was proud of the boys and the performance they gave was excellent, mentioning their team work in particular. They were runners up, but were also a credit to Finchale.
Well done to the swim team who took part in the

Pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 are working hard to learn the skills and gain the confidence required to ride their bikes safely on today’s roads.
Bike maintenance and safety are high up on the agenda, practising riding their bikes in the school yard before they venture out onto the roads.
Cycling is a fantastic way to stay fit and healthy, environmentally is a good way to travel and this programme really is cycling proficiency for the 21st Century.
Well done children and keep up the good work/cycling!

Multi-Skills & Fantastic Leadership Skills!
Year 2 spent a day at New College undertaking a carousel of sports activities, honing their throwing, jumping dribbling, balancing and other sports skills. Well done to Year 2, you worked well and were great ambassadors for our school. They were helped by our new School Sports Organising Crew who acted as Sports Leaders for the event. Jen from the School Sports contacted school specifically to say how well they had done showing exceptional leadership skills.
Year 6 Sports Leaders are: Taylor, Lewis, Jessica and Madison. Year 5 Sports Leaders are: Amelia, Jessica, Ethan and Cain.
What a fantastic day, twenty four of our pupils from Key Stage 2 attended the Durham Schools Cross Country event at Meadowfield Leisure Centre. The weather was kind and our pupils ran well. They proved themselves to be excellent ambassadors for our school. Four of the children ran exceptionally well and qualified for the County finals which will be held in March 2017.
WELL DONE FINCHALE!

Winter Soccertots Festival 27th September 2016
Year 2 children went along to the Festival at Meadowfield Leisure Centre on 27th September 2017 to learn new skills. They learnt how to control a ball, dribble with it and also how to shoot penalties. The day ended with an opportunity to put all of the skills into practice playing mini football matches. Well done Year 2 you participated brilliantly!
Daniel O'Hare Trophy 14th September 2016
The new team played well, they narrowly missed out on going to the final. There was only one point in it and considering this was the first time the team had played together Coach Lez was delighted with the performance - WELL DONE boys!
