Welcome to our Year 5 class page. Please have a look at the fabulous work we have carried out. We have had a lot of fun taking part in lots of interesting activities.
For further information the curriculum that we teach, please speak with Mrs Sleeman.
As part of our Art and DT topic we designed some picnic food, which we then made using Mod Roc and painted.
We had a great time at our sports day, using skills we had practised in our PE lessons and with some fun activities too.
We also enjoyed our class picnic.

Hello, Year 5! I hope this week is going well. I have been looking at TTRockstars and I am so impressed. The boys are leading at the minute! The current scores are:
Boys 3912 vs 1395 Girls
The battle continues until Friday. Who will win?
Please remember that there is also Bug Club for you to access and this means I can see how well you are doing with your reading comprehension work.
I am very proud of you all for how well you are doing at home. I know this is not what we were expecting but we can try our very best to be positive and support one another. We can do this and remember, it's fine!
Take care and look after each other.
Mrs Sleeman.
Thursday 7th January
Hello, Year 5! Well, this was not quite the start I had planned for us. I do hope you have had a good week so far. I am sure that whether you have been working at home or at school that you have all made your special people at home very proud of you. There is currently a battle taking part on TTRockstars and the boys are winning at the minute! Let's see how well you can all do by the time the competition finishes at the end of the day on Friday.
Don't forget that we now have Bug Club so you can all access a range of reading books online that have been specifically chosen for you. This is an excellent resource to support reading and comprehension work. If anyone needs a password reminder, please do get in touch.
Stay safe, keep smiling and look out for a video from me at the beginning of next week!
Take care,
Mrs Sleeman.

Captain Chemistry December 2020
Today we used our science and mathematical skills to enhance our design and technology work by making a marble run. We used a variety of materials to see which group could create a marble run that lasted for the longest time and which used different techniques (each of these gaining a range of points). Every group worked very well together and we are all very proud of what we created. After seeing each marble run take place we had a tie between 'Flying Maniac' and 'Speed Marble'. Each group then had 2 more attempts to show how long their track lasted and the winning group was 'Speed Marble'. A special mention must go to 'MARS' as their track took the longest time (11.3 seconds).
Thank you, Captain Chemistry.

European Day of Languages (September 2020)
In Year 5, we focused on France. We created posters about the country, created a matching pairs game, tried French food and had a fabulous French lesson with Mrs Hamill. When we tasted the food, the croissants were a firm favourite!
NHS Spitfire Flyover (September 2020)
We were hopeful of seeing the Spitfire’s flyover on Tuesday, which was to say thank you to the NHS. Unfortunately, cloud cover meant that only some of us caught a glimpse of it in the distance. Nevertheless, we had the opportunity to see a video of the Spitfire in action in class afterwards.
