We have had a great first week. The children have settled beautifully and they are quickly becoming used to their new classroom and different rules and routines. Mrs Whitton has been so impressed, that we even received our first Headteacher's award! Take a look at what we have been up to!
We had so much fun taking part in the colour run, with the Durham School Sports Partnership.
It was the launch of our Monster Phonics programme so everyone dressed up as a Monster Phonics monster! Look at our fabulous costumes!
Hola! Reception found out more about Spain during our European Day of Languages celebration. We had a great time making flags, trying traditional Spanish foods and practising a few Spanish words. We also made pictures in the style of Gaudi - a famous Spanish sculptor.
Reception had fun exploring the balance bikes with Darren, from the Durham School Sports Partnership. Some children even mastered the pedal bikes too!
Looking for signs of Autumn!
What a fun day! Find more photos from the jiggly jog on the Sport page on our website.
Reception enjoyed working in groups to make bread, as part of our work on Harvest. Our favourite part was tasting it!
Take a look at our Reception entries into the recent Harvest competition. We did an amazing job!
Reception enjoyed learning about the different traditions and celebrations linked to Diwali. We listened to stories, looked at photographs and had a go at making our own diya lamps and rangoli patterns. We were also very lucky to have a talk and a presentation from Aarav (year 3), Harry (year 4), and Bodhi (year 6) about their own family celebrations and traditions during Diwali.
Reception made their own poppies to wear at our KS1 Remembrance service. We then decided to make our own pebble poppy garden in our reception outside classroom.
We loved meeting Police Officer Claire and Jet, her police dog, as part of our work on People Who Help Us. She told us all about her job, her uniform, her police van and of course her police dogs Jet and Ben. We had a turn at dressing up as police officers and we even got to see the lights and siren on the police van in action!
