"Mrs Rice (wellbeing coordinator) has been incredibly supportive of my daughter, who regularly meets with her to manage her anxiety. She has created a safe and nurturing environment where my daughter feels comfortable expressing her thoughts and emotions. Through consistent support, practical strategies, and a compassionate approach, Mrs Rice has helped my daughter to build confidence and develop coping skills that are making a significant difference in her daily life. Her dedication and genuine care have not only eased my daughters anxiety but also reassured us as parents that she is in capable hands. Mrs Rice also referred us for a course on parent led CBT which has been incredibly effective in helping us to improve our daughters sleep. By learning and practising structured techniques, the process also strengthened our ability to support her emotional wellbeing at home."
"As a parent of a child who has always found school challenging, the addition of the wellbeing service has been our saviour. We have used the wellbeing service since it was introduced into school. Mrs Rice is understanding, empathetic and an absolute rock to our family. Mrs Rice listened to us and continues to work closely with our child to build their self esteem and confidence. Without the support of Mrs Rice, our child would have likely have become a non attender of school. Mrs Rice has supported our family with accessing services outside of the school setting to help our child and our family. To a family who has a child who is finding school and the world around them challenging, you have no idea where to turn. It can be a dark place and you often feel lost and alone. We have friends in the local area who are struggling who go to other schools who do not have this service or support available. We are thankful that an investment was made in this service by our school. Every school in the UK should have the opportunity to have a wellbeing coordinator to help support the children and parents."
Testimonials
"When my daughter was having a really difficult time emotionally, Mrs Rice and the other support staff were absolutely amazing. They were incredibly patient and understanding making my child feel comfortable and listened to. This in turn improved her ability in lessons and her outlook at home too. I was so moved by their help I have even gone back for advice after moving to a different area. I can't thank Mrs Rice and the wellbeing team at Finchale enough. I don't know what we would have done without them."
"Mrs Rice provided exceptional support to assist throughout the school year, both emotional listening and helping with coping skills. Mrs Rice does not have a one size fits all approach, just to tick a box, she researches and utilises the best tools, rather than the easiest, to assist at school and in every day life. The time, planned and ad hoc, with Mrs Rice not only assisted during the Finchale school journey but also gave the tools to transition to comprehensive."
“It is great for my son to have a place at school where he can have some one-to-one time to talk to Mrs Rice about the things he worries about, in a comfortable environment. He feels like he is really cared about at school.”
"Mrs Rice,
Thank you for all the support that you provided to my son during his time at Finchale particularly around his anxiety about germs. I appreciate the work done in school to try to reassure him. When needed, the referral to the Piece of Mind team was made quickly and with my involvement. The parent led CBT that I attended from this was really helpful and taught me strategies support him. This has resulted in him being much less anxious about germs and although it still concerns him from time to time, it is no longer preventing him from taking part in activities."
