12/07/18 - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Abbey Leisure Centre

06/07/18 - Finchale's Got Talent. Well Done to all who auditioned and got through to the Finals. A special Well Done to our class winner Jamie Wang!

21/6/18- Making Gingerbread people.

15/06/18 - Mini Olympics. Super Skipping!

12/06/18 - Year 3 have had a very exciting day today! We went on a right angle hunt around school, we investigated how to package a biscuit so it would not smash when we dropped it and we designed our own experiments to see what plants need to grow.

06/06/18 - Year 3 have been great engineers over the holidays and created wonderful pyramids. Well Done!

09/05/18 - Adam Bushnell came to Year 3! We have had a great afternoon learning about Egyptian riddles and Pyramids' traps. For homework Mrs McGuire has asked us to create a story using the riddles we made and the traps within the pyramid.

02/05/18 - We had a great morning at Maiden Castle playing all sorts of Rugby games. The children thoroughly enjoyed the whole event. Thank you for all who helped and came to support us.

20/04/18 - Our trip to the Oriental Museum. We handled ancinet artefatcs, saw two real mummies and explored the Egyptian collection. Thank you for all who helped.

26/03/18 - Year 3 had a fantastic time this afternoon taking part in a light workshop from Durham University and presented by Mr Pal. We all learned something new and saw some impressive science!

22/03/18 - We really enjoyed Multisports today. Thank you to Mrs Moyes and all the adult helpers for making it a fun and safe event.

wb 05/03/17 - We have had a busy week in Year 3. We have: shared our snow day work; celebrated world book day; celebrated world math's day with a mathletics competition; took part in a judo workshop; watched an anti-bullying play and we are going to enjoy film night tomorrow watching Matilda.

21/02/18 - In Maths today we all set up our own shops. Mrs McGuire then gave us all a set budget and we had fun visiting our friends' shops buying lots of things. We had to add up our purchases and calculate our change. It was hard always sticking to our budgets!

20/02/18 - Our Ukulele lessons started today, we had a great first lesson.

01/02/18 - Year 3 Enterprise Day

On 5th February, Year 3 took part in a special day with Primary enterprise world in which we learnt; what an urban area is; how adults buy and sell houses; what bills adults have to pay with their wage by playing the life board game; how to set up our own stall at a fare to raise money for charity. We all had a fantastic time and we received a certificate at the end of the day. Thank you to Primary Enterprise world.

31/01/18 - The Mayor Came to Visit

The Right Worshipful The Mayor of Durham came to visit school. The Mayor is called Councillor Bill Kellet and the Mayoress is called Mrs Jean Chaplow. He brought his Bodyguard with him.

26/01/18- Year 3 trip to the church and creating christian symbol pebbles on our return

09/01/18 - We learned the names of the countries in Europe, by singing a song. Some of us at the end of the lesson knew the name of 24 countries!

11/12/17 - Our Prehistory Day. We had a lot of fun and got to look at real objects, make iron age coins in our own tribe and put a skeleton together.

11/12/17 - Our fossils from home. They look Fantastic!

08/12/17 - We started our fossil experiment today. We are trying to make a fossil from bread and sweets. We are also going to try and make fossils at home using other materials. I wonder what Year 3 will create?

07/12/17 - Our Christmas surprises! Santa Claus wrote to Year 3! We were all shocked and amazed. We have also created our own advent calendar sewing felt pockets and the advent fairy fills up 2 a day!

29/11/17 - We tested lots of different rocks today, testing for durability, density and permeability.

24/11/17 - We were lucky enough to go inside a Planetarium and learn all about the North star and our Solar system. Unfortunately we couldn't take any photos inside.

08/11/17 - We had fun making marshmallow and spagetti structures. Did you know the triangle is the strongest shape?

01.11.17 - Stonehenge was built....in a half term! Well done to you all, parents and children.

20.10.17 Tri-Golf trip. Thank you for those who supported us on this trip. We all had a lot of fun playing Golf, learning new things and ... dancing!

06/10/17 - Year 3's cave art.

03/10/17 - In maths we are looking at number bonds to 100. We had our first attempt today at number bond dominos. We really enjoyed it and next time we are going to try and complete it in a quicker time frame.

28/09/17 - European day of languages with Mrs Hamill. We had a lot of fun learning french greetings, numbers and a song about our body.

27/09/17 - National Fitness Day. We danced along to three different songs in our class including our favourite 'Purple Stew' song.

22/09/17 - In class we talked about a bread experiment. If you chew bread for long enough our saliva turns it into sugar. Thank you for the photos from home!

15/09/17 - We made a human timeline exploring the Stone Age to the Iron Age
