Welcome to the Year 3!
First some important class notices:
- Bring your P.E. kit into school and leave it here all week, that way we can fit in as much P.E. as possible.
- Swimming is on Friday Morning and we leave school straight away so if you forget it there is no time to ring home.
- Our topics this year are Stone age to Iron age, Light and the Egyptians
Our first venture into the sporting world this year saw us attending the Mini Olympics which had been rearranged from the previous year. As a sporty school we love to try anything and have a go at all the different activities that we can get our hands on. We had a great day and learnt a lot about lots of different sports.
Below are some photographs from the football.
As part of our excellent sporting opportunities this year, we are fortunate to have The Raquet Man come into school to show us some tennis moves. After the first few weeks we have already shown some excellent serves, forehands and smashes. We can't wait to learn the rest!
Some of the parents that we have at this school are also very talented and are willing to give up their free time to support our curriculum. Mrs Hamill, a former French Teacher, volunteered to come into school and teachsome French to all of the classes. After some initial word learning and conversations we got straight on with a song. Learning French is going to be fun!
Occasionally we get an extra opportunity to take part in some extra learning opportunities that enhance our curriculum and learning. On such opportunity came in the form of additional music teaching from Durham Councils music department. We loved the chance to support our existing knowledge of rhythm and beats with this session.
This term we were lucky to have a visitor from Russia in our school, helping us to learn and also give us some insight into the different things that happen in Russian schools. It was very interesting to hear the Russian language and learn about their culture.
Children in need!
Here at Finchale we always take the time to support charity work, especially when it means that we might get the opportunity to dress up. This year we dressed up as superheroes and welcomed Pudsy into our class.
As always we love to get stuck into new sporting activities and as soon as the tennis finished we moved onto gymnastics. Already we have learnt about movement, balances and rolls. We can't wait to see what else we might get up to!
