Attached below are topic overviews for Autumn, Spring and Summer term 2016 - 2017.
During this term, in Year 1 we have been learning about the features of Christian Churches. This week we went on a visit to All Saints church in Newton Hall, where we were able to look closely at the features of the church. Diane showed us around and even commented and how well behaved we were! We really enjoyed our visit!
In year 1 we have been looking at the story 'Rosie's Walk'. We decided it would be a great idea if we made a map of Rosie's journey. We really enjoyed working in groups to do this!
We had a very exciting visit from HOOPSTARZ this week! We thoroughly enjoyed learning some new skills with the very big hoops and some of us were even able to use the hoop around our arms!
Year 1 were lucky this week to have Mrs Hamill teach us some new songs in French. We learned a song about colours in French and even had the opportunity to perform this in front of the whole school. We were fantastic!
This week we have been looking a poems and their features. Today we learned lots about poems and we discussed writing our own magic box poem. We are really excited about writing it tomorrow!
Today we got ourselves dressed in our pyjamas for Children in Need day where we raised money for charity! We enjoyed this very much.
We also had a surprise visit from Pudsey Bear this week, he came into our classroom and even had a dance with us! We were thrilled to see him!
This term we have been looking at our senses. In our classroom we set up an 'investigation area' based around our senses. Today we had a taste test in Science and we were nervous about it at first but it turned out to be really fun!
This week in maths we have been learning how to add 3 numbers together. We used hula hoops and pompoms to help us! Then we all recorded the number sentence we made onto out whiteboards. We love this activity.
